There’s something magical about fall—crisp air, vibrant leaves, and the warmth of family togetherness. I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family during one of the most stunning autumn days, and I’m so excited to share the story behind one of my favorite shots from the session!
As we were walking through the park, we came across the most breathtaking tree—a brilliant mix of red and orange leaves that absolutely screamed “fall.” The vibrant colors were everything I had hoped for in a backdrop, and the moment I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for their family portraits. The mom absolutely fell in love with it, and I could see why—those rich fall hues made for an unforgettable setting.
There was just one problem: the tree, while stunning, was right next to a road with cars in the background. We were so close to getting the perfect shot, but that backdrop was less than ideal. This is where the magic of posing, angles, and a little creative problem-solving came in.
With the right angle and some careful positioning, I was able to frame the family in such a way that the vibrant fall tree became the focal point of the shot. By slightly adjusting their placement and directing them to turn just so, we were able to hide the cars behind the foliage. The result? A stunning, clean background with the glowing red and orange leaves in full view—just as we had envisioned.
When the mom saw the final image, she was over the moon! It’s moments like these that make my job so rewarding. The family looked absolutely radiant against the gorgeous fall backdrop, and the colors were so vibrant, they almost seemed to glow. She immediately knew that this image was “the one” she wanted to display in their home.
I’m beyond excited to share that we’ll be printing this image large to hang in their home, where it will surely be a cherished focal point for years to come. It’s such a perfect representation of both the beauty of fall and the love and connection this family shares.
Fall sessions are always a joy, but when you find that one perfect tree or backdrop, it feels like everything comes together in the most magical way. With a little creativity, the right posing, and an eye for detail, we were able to turn a challenge into a stunning image. I can’t wait to see this beautiful photo hanging in their home—it’s going to be a piece they’ll treasure forever.
